Beginning of the Year Update from Charleston's Teacher of the Year
Happy New Year! The students
at West Ashley High School are excited about a new year and a
new 2012 semester. Students have finished exams and
completed first semester! They now have a chance to start fresh with
new classes and new teachers.
I would like to take this time to
highlight and thank a unique club at our school that did a wonderful job
supporting community awareness projects for the 2011 school year. This is
the West Ashley High School's Young Gentlemen's Club, and it is
made up of outstanding young men that dress professionally on designated
days and support community causes. Last semester, they visited many
elementary schools promoting and raising awareness to bullying.
Marcus Williams, a YGC member, would participate in book readings and
activities to help raise awareness with elementary children. It was
a very successful activity supporting and giving back to the
community. Job well done, gentleman, and thank you for your
support!
This photo is of the nicely dressed
participants of West Ashley High School's Young Gentleman Club posing around
the Volvo. Thanks to Rick Hendrick Volvo, I get to enjoy this beautiful
and shiny new car as 2011 CCSD Teacher of the Year. The ride is
sooooo smooth and the music on the MP3 player using my iPhone is sooooo
enjoyable. I have an iTunes account which is downloaded with
many of my favorite Disco songs. So, if you see a teacher riding
down the street singing and dancing to Disco music and celebrating the success
of the outstanding young men of WAHS's Young Gentleman's Club, you know who it
is! :)

Increasing your Volvo's Performance without Breaking the Bank
Now through March 31st, bring your car by on Saturdays for a Comlimentary Tire Rotation!! In lieu of this wonderful deal, here's a few facts about rotating tires:
How often should tires be rotated?
It varies for each car make and ranges from every 5,000 to every 10,000 miles. However, for Volvo, it's recommended that the tires be rotated roughly every 7,500 miles.
Effects
Since the front tires wear faster than the rear, rotating the tires evens out the wear between the front & rear, eradicating the potential for uneven wear and premature replacement
Perks
Extends the life of the tires, increases performance & guarantees safer handling.
Something to keep in mind...
Rotating the tires greatly increases the stability of the car which means the engine doesn't have to work as hard which means better gas mileage!

Update from Eve Rutiri - December 16, 2011
A note we received today:
The faculty, staff, and students at West Ashley High School are looking forward to the holidays, and we are working very hard to wrap up our course requirements for the first semester. This week the teachers have a pep in there step anticipating the excitement of Christmas vacation with some time to relax and spend with family. The students are even more excited this time of the year knowing that Santa is coming to town. During this busy time of the year, I am very grateful to Rick Hendrick Volvo for the use of the car so I can safely drive, shop, and conveniently transport my presents home in such amazing style and grace too. The Volvo does so well in stop and go traffic and has awesome pick-up. It's just so zippy around town! Thanks again, Rick Hendrick Volvo of Charleston, and please have a safe holiday and Happy New Year to everyone!

A Time for Giving
This year, the Management Team at Rick Hendrick Imports and Volvo of Charleston, on behalf of all our employees, gave our Executive General Manager, Brad Davis, what we hope will be a very special gift for Christmas. We were able to provide a book for each child at CC Blaney Elementary School and books for the Media Center as well. Brad and some of the staff went to CC Blaney Elementary School on Friday, December 16th to hand deliver books to each of the children. For over 300 students that attend the school, a book was the perfect gift.
Upon returning to the dealership, Brad Davis commented: “I just got back from CC Blaney Elementary School and had the pleasure of passing out books to more than 300 appreciative students that range from Head Start (Age 2) to 6th Graders. The smiles, thank yous, singing and hugs made this one of the best Christmas Presents I have ever received. “
We are proud to support our local Charleston County School District Schools and especially CC Blaney Elementary. We have developed a special bond with the students and staff and are so proud of what they accomplish every day. We look forward to our continued partnership and more opportunities for our employees and clients to get involved!
